I had a great night sleep after the 100 mile day and we are looking at getting to Sebree which has one of the best hostels of the trip. The hostel is at the First Baptist Church of Sebree and it was a long ride after a day big day. It has gotten alot flatter which is making things a little bit easier. It is funny how much time you have to think while you are riding. I find myself almost talking to myself as I ride. Dogs are still pretty bad and they seem to jump out of nowhere.
As were rolled into the hostel we meet Bob and Violet. He was the pastor of the church and they welcomed us with open arms. They were the sweetest people that I have ever meet. They were in the middle of bible study with some people from the community and they all came over to welcome us. They showed us to the hostel which was amazing and let us shower up. Violet told us to be up at the house in an hour because she was going to cook us dinner. We went up to the house and they some kids from the youth group at dinner because they wanted them to experience the cyclists. THey had everything you could ever want for dinner and people from bible study brough dishes over for the dinner. I ate as much as I could and then I ate some more. We sat and talked about eachother and it was an amazing night. They have been doing this for 30 years now and she has a book with all the pictures that riders have sent her over teh year. It almost makes me want to cry thinking about the hospitality that I have been show.
It is eye opening to see people that will do anything for people that they do not even know. It is something that is lost in a major city and it is changing the way that I look at myself. For all the people in this country that do not care about anybody other than themselves, you have people like Bob and Violet. Two people who would help anybody. After dinner we called it an early night and went to bed.
