Hello everybody!
After a shorter day my legs feel a little better. I may try and push a little bit farther today and get some mile under my belt. I am getting close to Colorado and I am getting excited for the change of scenery. I left a little bit late today and the wind was not great again. It was hot today and it looks like the cool weather is gone. It is about 100 degrees and I am tired of drinking hot water, but I still do it because I need the water. Every 20 miles there is a town right now and I find the gas station to fill my bottles with ice. The water is hot again within 30 minutes, but the water is great while it is still cold.
I am slowly climbing in elevation and by the end of Kansas I will be around 4000 feet in elevation. I got to Leoti late in the evening and I rode about 80 miles. I was going to camp in the park, but they had a fair going on. I decided to push on to the next town which was 24 miles away. As I started out of town I notice a storm rolling in and turned around. Looks like I would be in another nasty motel for the night. I had food at the only place in town and it was pretty bad. I ended up going to the gas station and getting some snacks because I knew I would be hungery later. Hopefully tomorrow will be better because I will be done with Kansas.
