Hey everybody!
Today I woke up early and got on the road early since it was going to be hot out. I had 24 miles to the next town and then a 60 mile stretch with only one town which had a gas station and a church hostel. I was excited because I was going to be in Colorado today and one step closer to finishing the trip. Today I would be crossing the halfway point in terms of milage which is exciting. The day started great and I was moving along at a good pace. I made it to the first town and the head wind picked up. It was going to be another slow moving day and hot. I filled up all my bottles with water and I filled my six liter bag because I had 30 miles with no water services. I made it to the Colorado state line and took some pictures. I was almost out of water with about 6 miles to go. That is when I ran into a biker sitting under the only tree for 100 miles. He was pretty cool and I do not remember his name. We decided to ride together to the town so we could get some water and continue to the next town. When we got into town I forgot the most important thing on this trip. Everything is closed on Sundays in small towns. This ment no gas station with water. I was mad because I had no water and another 30 miles until the next town. I decide to check the church out and try to find the water I needed. THe people at the church were amazing and they let us stay for an hour to get out of the heat. They gave us food and water aswell. Eventually, we said goodbye and made our way to Eads. The scenery has changed to a dessert like climate and the services are few and far between. I guess it is going to be a rough couple of days until Pueblo. We made it to town and the only thing that was open was th gas station, so I was going to have to find a meal. It is amazing what you can make for dinner from a gas station. Eads also marks the halfway point for the miles and now I can start counting down.
