Today we woke up pretty early and found a place to eat breakfast. I loaded up on food and I almost ate too much food. We hit the road a little bit later and we all decided to call it another short day to West Yellowstone. We all wanted to take our time and see all the sights of Yellowstone rather then blowing through the area and missing everything.
We started the day with two Continental Divide climbs, which were pretty rough with all the traffic. It is amzing how little respect cars have for you on the roadways. People do not like to slow down or wait a few seconds because it may tak them a minute longer to get somewhere. They would rather thread the needle and if they hit you it is no big deal. I do not understand alot of these drivers, but it is something I have to deal with.
We made it to Old Faithful at around 11:30 and waited for about a half hour for it to blow. It was pretty cool, but I did not like the crowds of people and I was pretty unimpressed after everything I have seen on this trip. Maybe it was because I had seen it before, but I was kind of disappointed in Yellowstone at this point. We continued our way through the park and stopped at the Grand Prismatic Pool and some Ghyser fields. These were pretty cool, but again it was crowded and I thought that I have seen more amazing things on this trip. We worked our way out of the park and looking back this was my least favorite part of the the west so far. It is not an untouched natural beauty at Yellowstone. It is a tourist trap and a death trap if you are riding a bike. I know it sounds stupid to say Yellowstone was not that great, but I have seen things that were better in the middle of nowhere and only a hand full of people know about it.
We made it to the tourist trap called West Yellowstone, Montana and it was excitnig to think that I was in Montana. I am getting closer to the end, but I still have a long ways to go. We found a spot to camp and I ate dinner at the taco bus. It was some of the best food on the trip. It was Mexican food and they made a yellow school bus into a kitchen with some indoor and outdoor seating. I had a burrito and 3 tacos because I had to try everything. After dinner I had some homemade ice cream from a stand and now I am in a food coma. I do not know how I at that much food. Well, I am off to bed and I will try and keep posting things. I am sorry it is taking me so long, but it is hard to find internet and time.
