My journey began at 5am this morning. It was overcast and it seemed like rain was rolling in from the west. After getting everything ready out at the beach for about 20 minutes, I embarked on my trip.
It drizzled on and off for the first 20 miles and I was feeling pretty good. There were a lot of minor hills through this section of the trip. Just outside Williamsburg, I hooked up with three guys from Virginia Beach. They were some pretty cool dudes and I rode with them for about 40 miles. The miles were ticking away and I still felt pretty good. Eventually we exchanged numbers and went our separate ways. They had to get to a wedding before they could continue across the country.

After leaving the guys, I had about 34 miles to go before I got to my destination. I was doing pretty good, but my knees were starting to hurt and I could feel my legs getting weaker. I pushed on knowing this was going to be a rough day. I finally got to the last 13 miles and I died. I had no energy and was going at a snails pace. Every hill was brutal and would take 15 minutes to climb only to be rewarded with a 30 second decent. Eventually, I limped into town, went to target, and got some well deserved dinner.
